5 Staircases: How many staircases do you require?

Means of escape in the event of fire determines the maximum travel distance to a place of safety, as seen in the images below.

The bottom of staircases should be located as near as possible to an exit. Please indicate if you require 1 or 2 staircases accordingly.

1 Staircase
(Single Escape Route, 25m Rule)

Travel distance max 25m to a "storey exit, i.e. to an external pedestrian door, (not a roller shutter door), or to a fire protected route.

2 Staircases
(Two Escape Routes, 45m Rule)

If two routes can be provided, and the angle betweek them is greater than 45°, one of the routes must be within 45m travel distance to a "storey exit", i.e. to an external pedestrian door, (not a roller shutter door), or to a fire protected route.

6 Pallet Gates: Do you require a pallet gate?

If you are intending to lift pallets up to the mezzanine, you will require an up and over pallet gate, as shown below.

7 Purpose: How will the floor be used?

Will the floor be used only for storage with occasional access?
Will anyone be working on the floor as opposed to accessing it for storage? (this will require the additional cost of Fire Protection)
Do you require shelving above and/or below the mezzanine? (see section 8 below)

Will the installation be in a clear area? ie. not attempting to install over existing shelving or machinery?

8 Two Tier Shelving Systems

If you're planning on using shelving above and below the mezzanine, then a two-tier shelving system may prove to be more cost effective.

Please be aware that this is a hand-loaded system only, however should you require to load pallets of goods to the first floor with a fork lift, a small mezzanine platform complete with a pallet gate can be provided.
